Lagos businessman charged with burglary, stealing N33m wrist watches

A 38-year-old businessman, John Okonkwo was yesterday charged with burglary and stealing cartons of different brands of wristwatches worth more than N33 million.

Police prosecutor, ASP U. Roman, alleged that the accused person and others now at large, on the 22nd May 2020, at APT Trade Fair Market, Lagos in the Lagos Magisterial District conspired among themselves to commit the offence.

The accused persons were alleged to have burgled the Warehouse of one Chidi Dimugonabo and carted away cartons of different brands of wristwatches worth N33m and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 411 of the criminal law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

The accused person pleaded not guilty. The magistrate Mrs. A Adebayo admitted him to N10 million bail with two sureties.

Further hearing has been fixed for 2nd February 2021.
