The Lagos State House of Assembly has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to institute a proper probe into the activities and funding of FERMA in the state in the past eight years.
The Assembly decried FERMA’s failure to carry out its responsibilities in the state, noting that despite the billions of naira provided to the agency to maintain federal roads in the state, it was the state government that actually maintained the roads.
The lawmakers also asked Governor Akinwunmi Ambode to demand the refund of money the state spent on the maintenance of federal roads in the state between 2007 and 2015.
The motion which was moved by Yishawu Olusegun who represents Eti-Osa II Constituency, noted that the state government through the Public Works Corporation, had carried out several rehabilitation works on 17 federal roads in the state.
