Two factions of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Lagos State held parallels congresses at the weekend.
At the State Congress witnessed by the Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode at the party’s Secretariat located at Acme Ikeja, new executive members already nominated were ratified by delegates selected across 20 Local Governments.
The newly sworn-in executiive is being led by Alhaji Tunde Balogun who emerged as the new State Chairman of the party while Chief Sunny Ajose emerged as Deputy Chairman. Chief Funsho Ologunde, Ashipa Kaoli Olusanya, Akeem Bamigbola emerged as the Vice Presidents, West, East and Central Senatorial Districts respectively.
At the parallel congress held at the Airport Hotel by the APC faction, Fuad Oki was named the State Chairman while Alhaja Sola Oyedele emerged as the Deputy Chairman. Olu Bakare also secured the Vice Chairman (West) seat.
Speaking on his faction decision to hold a parallel Congress, Oki said it was about injustice and the non compliance with the party’s rule and regulations on the need to conduct the Congress based on the 20 Local Government Areas and not the 57 Local Councils used by the Henry-Ajomale led group.
