The political drama unfolding at the Lagos State Chapter of All Progressive Congress (APC) took a new twist on Tuesday as the Managing Director of Lagos State Property Development Council (LSDPC); Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu secured the gubernatorial nomination form to challenge his principal, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode in the forthcoming party primary.
The LSDPC presided over by Sanwo-Olu is one of the agencies of the Lagos State Government.
Until his assumption of that role, Sanwo-Olu has served as Special Adviser to former Lagos State Deputy Governor, Mr Femi Pedro as well as former Governor Bola Ahmed Tinubu who is also the National Leader of the Party. He also served under immediate past-Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN as the Commissioner for Establishment in 2007 in the state.
Sanwo-Olu’s procurement of nomination form, few hours after the Governor did same at the National Headquarters of the party in Abuja, brought to three the number of those who have so far shown interest in the Lagos governorship seat within APC ahead of 2019 election.
A long-term former Commissioner for Works, Obafemi Hamzat had procured his nomination form three days earlier before Governor Akinwunmi Ambode bought his on Monday.
