Lafarge Plc’s Cement Company in Mfamosing, Cross River State, has launched what it calls the “Mfamosing Community Day”.
The plant manager, Peter Robson, said at the launch that the day was set aside by the firm to attend to complaints from community members, extend support and empower its hosts in order to improve the quality of their lives and stimulate sustainable development.
“The initiative is part of efforts to strengthen relationship between Lafarge, host communities and the Cross River state government. The essence of this Initiative is to further demonstrate our commitment to support community development in line with the 2030 development ambition, one of which focuses on people and communities”, he said.
Some of the activities observed to mark the day at the launch included a football tournament, commissioning of completed development projects and a quiz competition among school children. 10 communities host the company in the state.
