Ladan kicks as APC support groups appoint factional DG

A faction of Amalgamated APC Support Groups (AASG), an umbrella body of the ruling party’s supporters, has appointed Engr. Kilani Muhammad as its acting director-general.

APC National Working Committee (NWC) had merged over 2,000 support groups working for the party’s success in the coming elections into a single body, named, AASG.

The faction’s National Director of Publicity and Strategic Communications, Dr Ahmed Saleh, at a media briefing in Abuja, said Muhammad was appointed following the removal of Dr Nasiru Ladan as the director-general of the APC supports groups.

He accused Ladan of running the group like a “one-man show” without carrying others along.

He said, “Giving that the time of elections is drawing near, and to avoid a leadership vacuum, the group leaders have decided to appoint another director general in an acting capacity to give direction and credible leadership to the group to enable us to cover lost grounds.”

Reacting, Ladan, a former Director General of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), dismissed his purported removal by the factional group as “absolutely rubbish”.

In a telephone interview with Daily Trust, Ladan insisted that he remained the head of AASG, saying members of the faction were being sponsored by the opposition to cause a crisis in their rank.
