Labourer sent to prison for stealing diesel, tanks in Kwara

A magistrates’ court sitting in Ganmo in Ifelodun LGA of Kwara State has sentenced one Musa Umar, a labourer, for stealing 30 litres of diesel.

The suspect was dragged to court on a two-count charge of criminal breach of trust and theft contrary to Sections 99 and 287 of the Penal Code.

According to the Police First Information Report (FIR), Musa Umar, a labourer working at Tipper Garage, Ganmo, stole two fuel tanks belonging to the vice chairman of the garage, Olojoku Mutoheeb.

 “He also burgled the shop of one Rukayat Usman and stole 30 litres of diesel before he was arrested,” the sheet added.

The case was prosecuted by Abideen Oderinde on behalf of the police.

In his judgement, trial Magistrate, Nimah, sentenced him to one year imprisonment with N25,000 fine option.
