Kebbi State chapter of organized labour unions has threatened to go on strike should the state government fail to pay workers their annual increment money and leave grant within the next 18 days.

Daily Trust Saturday reports that the state government stopped paying workers their leave grant in the last two years with the exception of Grade Level 01 to 06 who were paid in 2019.

The chairmen of Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Umar Halidu Alhassan and Trade Union Congress (TUC), Danladi Aliyu Dabai, made this known yesterday in Birnin Kebbi, saying the decision to down tools became necessary as government had also failed to implement the consequential adjustment on new national minimum wage.

They also condemned the insensitivity of the present administration for its failure to remit teachers’ pension contribution to their respective Pension Fund Administrators (PFAs) for the past 72 months.
