The Joint Public Service Negotiating Council (JNC) in Ekiti State has
expressed sadness over the purported promotion of workers without the attendant benefits.
The development, JNC said, was caused by the immediate past administration of Ayodele Fayose.
The Chairman of the JNC, Comrade Fatomiluyi Kayode, and the Secretary,
Comrade Gbenga Olowoyo, said the action of the past administration on the issue
could be described as “an administration without conscience”.
In a release to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti, the workers expressed their frustration over government’s foot-dragging on the
implementation of the financial benefits that should attend the promotions.
The JNC leadership, however, believed that since government was a continuum, the incumbent
administration under Dr Kayode Fayemi would “use his large-heartedness to address the issue among other issues affecting the well-being of public servants in Ekiti State and commence its implementation.”
The JNC promised on behalf of all workers in the public service of Ekiti State to remain committed to all the cardinal programmes of the
present administration in the state.
To achieve this, the JNC disclosed it had proposed a quarterly interface
between the state government and labour union leaders in the public service.
They believed this platform would fast-track the resolution of some outstanding burning
issues affecting workers generally in Ekiti State.
The JNC leaders called on all workers in the state to exercise patience to allow
them work out a robust negotiation with the state government
