The Commissioner for Environment in Kwara State, Mallam Shehu Ndanusa Usman, has charged youths in the state to join hands with the present administration to sustain a clean and hygienic environment, devoid of epidemics.
The commissioner made the charge weekend during a courtesy call on him by the Ilorin Emirate Youth Development Association (IEYDA) and Balogun Gambari Youth Movement.
He said, “The present administration is highly committed to effective and efficient waste management and ready to partner with any focussed and result-oriented community development association to sustain a clean and hygienic environment for healthy living.
The commissioner informed the visitors that he had intimated some traditional rulers about government’s readiness to stop the indiscriminate dumping of refuse and encroachment on roads by marketers in the state.

He said severe sanctions await environmental law violators and they would face the full wrath of the law.
Mallam Ndanusa appreciated the visit and pledged that issues raised would soon be addressed accordingly.
Earlier, the President of IEYDA, Alhaji Abdullahi Babatunde, appreciated Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his efforts at sustaining a clean and hygienic environment in the state.
