Kwara United Wednesday defeated visiting Enyimba FC 1-0 to secure the maximum points in the rescheduled Match Day 2 of the ongoing 2020/21 Nigeria Professional Football League.
Desperate to leave the drop zone, the Abdullahi Biffo tutored Kwara United opened scoring in the fifth minute of the keenly contested match through Steven Jude.

Propelled by the early goal, the ‘Afonja Warriors’ as Kwara United are called stepped firmly on the pedal for more goals.
However, stunned by the early goal, Enyimba attempted to get back into the game but were denied by the outstanding goalkeeping of their former keeper, Dele Aiyenugba who dived to his left to deny Stephen Manyo from cancelling out United’s slender lead.
Undaunted by the pressure on them by the hosts, the more illustrious Enyimba continued to push for an equaliser which failed to come before the end of the first half.
At the restart of the second half, Kwara United almost made it two-nil when Ohanu Michael rounded Enyimba goalkeeper, John Noble but watched helplessly as the ball hit the woodwork.
With defeat staring Enyimba in the face, Fatai Osho made some personnel changes to ensure the ‘Peoples elephants’ return to Aba with at least a point.
Despite controlling proceedings for a large period of the game, the Elephants fell to their second defeat of the current NPFL season.
Their first loss came against Heartland who defeated them 2-0 in the week four fixture at the Okigwe Township stadium on January 13.
Following their first home victory of the season, Kwara United have moved up to 9th position on the table with 8 while Enyimba remain unmoved on 5th position with 9 points.
Kwara United will next host FC IfeanyiUbah in week six fixture on Sunday while Enyimba travel up north to battle relegation threatened Adamawa United.
Meanwhile, Rivers United are top of the table with 12 points closely followed by Nasarawa United and Lobi Stars who are on 11 and 10 points respectively.
