The Technical Adviser of high riding Kwara United, Abubakar Bala has described his team’s Aiteo Cup quarter-final clash with Katsina United as a family affair.

While Kwara United proved book makers wrong to top the Lagos Centre of this year’s Aiteo Cup, Katsina United emerged runners up at the Gombe Centre to reach the quarter-final.

Thus, the Afonja Warriors as Kwara United are called will lock horns with the ‘Chanji boys’ from Katsina this evening at the Agege township stadium.

Interestingly, the technical advisers of Kwara United and Katsina United are friends and former coaches of their home club, Niger Tornadoes.

Consequently, both Kwara United and Katsina United parade former players of Niger Tornadoes.

Speaking to Daily Trust yesterday, coach Bala said it is going to be a family affair as he noted that players from both sides are known to each other.

“There are so many interesting things about our upcoming match with Katsina United. We know one another very well.

“The coach of Katsina United is a brother and friend. He was once my boss in Kogi United. In addition, there are at least five former Niger Tornadoes players in Kwara United and Katsina United.

“This is why it is going to be a family affair in Lagos. I am expecting a difficult match,” he said.

Bala however said the existing friendship between both clubs won’t stop him from going for victory against Katsina United.

He said after pleasantries, he will guide his wards to success.

“We are friends but once we have finished greetings, the battle will commence and we are hoping to come out tops,” he assured.
