Concerned Youths of Kwara south protested to the government house Ilorin over alleged invasion of the constituency by political thugs for the disruption of Saturday’s by-election.
This is as the youth also lamented over the movement of Divisional Police Officers within the the constituency while new ones were brought to replace them.
Speaking during the protest, leader of the group, Felix Alaba, said they are at the government house to tell the governor on the development which they said is alien in the area and want the governor to as a matter of urgency find solution to the problem before the election.
“Our constituency has been invaded by political thugs from Lagos and Osun states. One of our members have been attacked. No peace in the area and we know that you are a peace loving governor. We can no longer condone the excesses of the thugs and what is happening. We want you as the chief security officer of the state to do something to address the situation”.
The governor, Dr Abdulfattah Ahmed, in his reaction said they have seen unusual movement of people in the state and have called security meeting with security agents to arrest the situation.
He also called on the Inspector General of Police to look into the issue of changing of DPO as it is a sign of siege on the democracy.
In a related development, Kwara state association of hair dresser and cosmetologists throw their waiting behind ambition of the governor to become senator that will represent Kwara south in the green chamber.
