Senator Saliu Mustapha, representing Kwara Central Senatorial District, has launched an annual university scholarship programme, committing over N200 million to support 200 indigent students throughout their undergraduate studies.
The initiative aims to alleviate the financial burden on families, allowing bright but underprivileged students to pursue higher education without undue stress.
The beneficiaries will be selected from the four local government areas of Kwara Central Senatorial District.
Speaking at the unveiling of the scheme in Ilorin, Professor Binta Sulyman, Chairperson of the Kwara Central Educational Ad-hoc Advisory Committee, said the selected students would attend one of five Kwara-based private institutions, including Al-Hikma University, Kwara State University (KWASU), Summit University in Offa, and Ahman Pategi University, among others.

Tunde Abdulrahman, a legislative aide to Senator Mustapha, emphasised that the scholarship fulfils the senator’s electoral promises to the youth and people of Kwara Central.
He also noted that the initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and complements Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s efforts to improve educational infrastructure across Kwara State.
Abdulrahman added, “A team of top educationists, academicians, and stakeholders, led by Professor Sulyman, has been appointed to ensure the programme’s success by establishing clear guidelines.”
