Men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kwara State have arrested a 28-year-old man, Muhammed Jamiu Maruf, in the Gbaaku- Okolowo area of Ilorin over alleged involvement in impersonation, extortion and other fraudulent activities.
The Kwara NSCDC Commandant, Umar Mohammed, who paraded the suspect, said he was apprehended following a complaint by one Mallam Zakariyahu Maruf that the suspect fraudulently transferred some money from his account.

He further said, “Following his arrest, three sets of army uniform, three cutlasses and a motorcycle were recovered from him. “Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect has never been enlisted in the Nigerian Army (NA) and has been exploiting and extorting money from the public.
“The suspect also purchased an electric motorcycle from one Mr Dangote in Lagos for N500,000. He initially paid N100,000 and subsequently blocked the seller’s contact to evade payment of the balance.”
