The governorship candidate of New Progressive Movement (NPM), Alhaji AbdulAzeez Oniyangi has denied stepping down for the Gubernatorial candidate of the APC, describing it as a blatant lie and misinformation to confuse the general public.
Recalled that a group, Kwara Like-minds political parties (KLPP) comprising of 37 political parties had on Wednesday said they are declaring support for the APC candidates in Saturday’s elections in order to join forces to liberate the state from the hands of her oppressors.
Oniyangi, who addressed journalists in Ilorin on Thursday, said there was no reason to abandon his followers and join other political party.
He insisted that he was still actively in the race of becoming the next governor of the state and has in no time considered stepping down to support any candidate.
“We wish to let you know that the APC and NPM has nothing in common as we as a party will not align with a party we do not see as different from each other.
“We are not serial cross-carpeting politicians. Our support for President Muhammadu Buhari has in no way prove that Oniyangi has stepped down for the APC,” he said.
Oniyangi said the party remains firm and resolute in liberating the state.
Speaking earlier, the State Chairman of NPM, Otunba Oladele Olaitan advised both KLPP and the state APC or whoever is behind such publications to tender an immediate apology for the erroneous information.
He explained that the legal team had been instructed to commence legal action to put to test the integrity of the party.
Otunba Olaitan added that the resolution to liberate Kwara from the grip of the oppressors is paramount than personal gains.
