Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has expressed shocked over the tragic boat mishap involving at least 300 people in Niger State on Wednesday.
The incident occurred around 7:30pm in Gwajibo village, when the boat conveying the victims to a Maulid celebration capsized.
Many of the guests ware from Kaiama in Kwara State with several still missing.
The governor expressed deep concern over the incident and commiserated with the Emir of Kaiama, Alhaji Omar Mu’azu Shehu and the people and Government of Niger State.

The governor directed the state emergency management agency to join the humanitarian efforts for the victims, the survivors and their families.
Similarly, the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman, Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has commiserated with the state government over the unfortunate incident.
Alhaji Sulu-Gambari, in a condolence message issued by his spokesman, Mallam Abdulazeez Arowona, said “The incident is regrettable, saddening and worrisome considering the number of victims and lives involved.”
