Kwara gov asks assembly to repeal pension law for ex-govs, others

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq has asked the state House of Assembly to repeal the pension law for former governors and deputy governors.

Speaking during yesterday’s Sunrise Daily of Channels Television, the state Commissioner for Justice, Ayinla Jawondo Salman, said the repeal of the law would end the bogus pension law of the former governors.

He said public officers’ remuneration and severance packages regulated by the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) was enough for the former state executives.

He said the recommendations by the RMAFC should be enough for any political office holder noting “After all, public offices are supposed to be a service to the nation.”

According to him, the governor was seeking for the repeal in line with the yearnings of the people of the state.

The Speaker of Kwara State House of Assembly, Mr Yakubu Danladi, had on Wednesday announced the presentation of the bill.
