Kwara farmer remanded for sexual assault

A 59-year-old farmer, AbdulGaniu Mohammed, has been sent to a correctional facility for having carnal knowledge of a girl in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

According to the First Information Report (FIR), the victim was suffering from bed-wetting and the defendant inserted his finger into her private part, claiming he wanted to know the cause of her predicament.

The FIR reads in part: “The defendant took undue advantage and deceitfully had carnal knowledge of her without her consent.”

The prosecutor, Zacchaeus Folorunsho, objected the bail of the defendant.

The Magistrate, Muhammad Dansuki, ordered the remand of the defendant and adjourned to July 6.
