The Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Fafowora Bolaji, has advised the people of the Jimba Oja community in Kwara South against selling goods on credit to policemen in the area.
Bolaji said the advice had become necessary to avert policemen’s debts to anybody in the community, especially when a debtor officer was transferred out of the area.
He gave the warning on Sunday during the commissioning of the KAMWIRE police post, Jimba Oja, which was built by KAM Industry Ltd.
“Under no circumstance should any trader sell on credit to our officers because they can be transferred out of the area at any time,” Bolaji said.
The police Commissioner commended KAMWIRE for building the police post and promised that the police under his command would ensure that lives and property of the company and people of the community were well protected with the available human and material resources at its disposal.
At the event, the Chairman of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Kwara/Kogi chapter and Chief Executive Officer of KAM Industries Nigeria Limited, Dr Kamorudeen Yusuf, described community policing as capable of encouraging collaboration between the police and community.
