Residents of Jebba community in Moro LGA of Kwara State have called for the citing of a fire station in the area.
The call was coming on the heels of injuries and fatalities that resulted from several tanker fires recorded in the sloppy town recently.
A resident, Rahmat Abdulkareem, said the situation was worrisome and called on the government to provide a fire station in the community to avert further casualties and catastrophe.
Another resident, Abdullateef, told our correspondent that all efforts should be made by the government to ensure they provided a fire station in the community.

On his part, the Principal Private Secretary of the Oba of Jebba, Prince Ibrahim Olatunji Adebara, said Jebba was designated by the state government during the military era to have a fire station.
He said, “But we don’t know what happened to this move since then. We hope the present government will bring it to fruition.”
He noted that, “Jebba Paper Mill has a fire vehicle, and also one of the hydro power stations, but they should only serve to complement a full fledged fire station that would be cited here. So, we need a fire station here.”
City & Crime reports that the Kwara State House of Assembly recently called for the establishment of a fire service station in Jebba.
Hon Madinah AbdulRahman, who hails from the council, called the attention of the house to the issue following a Matter of Urgent Public Importance.
Speaker Yakubu Salihu then urged the governor to direct the Ministry of Communication to intensify campaigns against construction of buildings under high tension to halt fire disasters.
