A Toyota Previa bus transporting 100 containers of 25 litres of petrol caught fire in Ilọrin, the Kwara State capital, on Friday.
It was gathered that the incident occurred around 7: 27 am on Friday at Guniyan junction, Isale Banni, Alore area in Ilorin West Local Government Area of the state.
The fire service confirmed the incident on Friday, adding that the containers and the vehicle were burnt to ashes in the process.
According to the spokesman of the Kwara State Fire Service, Hassan Adekunle, the vehicle was en route Banni Oko in Asa Local Government Area.

He attributed the incident to spillage within the vehicle worsened by the high temperature, resulting in the ignition and subsequent inferno.
“Responding swiftly, the fire crew rushed to the scene to contain the escalating situation. Investigation revealed that the vehicle was clandestinely transporting the 100 gallons of fuel for illicit purposes
“Efforts are ongoing to identify the specific filling station implicated in the unlawful sale of petrol for unauthorised use”, he noted.
