The Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, Alhaji Mustapha Ishowo, has said the claim by the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, that he funded the 2019 general elections in the state is “false and self-serving.”
He stated this in response to a recent statement by the minister in reply to an interview by Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq over the funding for the 2019 election in the state.

Addressing journalists Sunday in Ilorin, Ishowo accused the minister of “dictatorial and divisive tendencies in the party.”
He said the governor’s offence was that he insisted on mutual respect, equity, and transparent use of campaign funds.
“His claim of funding the elections is bogus as he was nowhere to be found during our campaigns which he not only boycotted but directed all his hirelings to also do same,” Ishowo said.
Several calls and a text message to the minister seeking his response to the allegations had not been answered as of press time.
But the party’s factional financial secretary and a loyalist of the minister, Mallam Tajudeen Mohammed, told Daily Trust on telephone that, “Anything that involves Mustapha Ishowo is null and void because he has proved to be unreliable over time regarding the affairs of the party.”
