A magistrates’ court sitting in Ilọrin, Kwara State, has ordered the remand of three suspects, Shehu Tukur, Mohammed Chemo and Abubakar Maigaro, accused of kidnapping.
The police First Information Report (FIR) had it that the suspects allegedly aided the abduction of one Alhaji Usman Jagaban from his home in Oke-Oyi at midnight while shooting sporadically.
The charge sheet added that they (Mohammed and Chemo) later demanded a N30m ransom from the family but that were arrested in the bush during a search for the victim after which they confessed to be on their your way to get an AK-47 rifle from the trio of Dan-Makarata, Dan-Basil and Faruk in the Oro-Ago area.
The FIR further reads: “Maigaro had earlier collected N700,000 from the family of the victim and took the money to the leader of the kidnapping gang at Gbugbu to “stop” the abduction.

“Investigation revealed that the suspects are part of a kidnapping gang terrorising the innocent people of the affected areas.”
The Prosecutor, Sergeant Sekunda, urged the court to remand the suspects, which was rejected by the defence counsel, Barrister Toyin Onaolapo.
The Magistrate, Olokoyo, remanded the defendants and adjourned the case to January 29, 2024.
