As the 2023 electioneering takes shape, supporters of the governorship candidate of the New Nigerian Peoples’ Party (NNPP) in Kwara State, Prof. Shuaibu Oba Abdulraheem have sought divine intervention towards the realisation of his ambition.
The supporters under the umbrella of Talba Likeminds on Sunday organised a special prayer in Ilorin to seek the Almighty’s intervention towards the victory of Prof. Abdulraheem who is also the Talba of Ilorin.
They said Prof. Abdulraheem remains the best among the candidates committed to implementing pro-masses agenda for the betterment of the people.
Oba Abu as the foremost University scholar, administrator and Frontline politician is fondly called is one of the leading governorship candidates in the state.
The special prayer held in both Islamic and Christian modes was attended by prominent academics and seasoned administrators who vouched for the capacity and competence of the governorship candidate to make a change in the state.
Prof. Oba Abu is a former Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC) and former Vice-chancellor of the University of Ilorin.
Chairman of Talba Likeminds, Prof. Ibrahim Abikan who declared the prayer open described the involvement of academics and seasoned administrators in the group as voluntary.
According to him, members of the group came together having been convinced in the capability and honesty of Prof. Oba in leading the state at this trying period.
The Islamic prayer was led by Imam Moshood Ibrahim while Prof. U. S. Ugbomoiko led the Christian prayer with two clerics further attesting to the competence of the governorship hopeful.
The Imam specifically praised the sincerity of Prof Oba, saying he would make a difference if elected as the next governor of Kwara State.
Also, Ugbomoiko described Prof Oba as a man who shows kindness to all irrespective of the person’s religion, tribe and language.
The Secretary of Talba Likeminds, Dr Rasaq Adisa disclosed that members of the group include all beneficiaries of Professor Oba across academic institutions, Government Ministries and Agencies in Nigeria.
Dignitaries in attendance included Prof A. S. Abubakar, Prof. Yinusa Muhammed, Prof Kamilu Rauf, Prof Rasaq Atata and Alhaji Abdulhameed Raji. Among the women are Dr. Saudah Sala Abdulbaqi, Dr. Saadat Abdulkadir among others.
