The police in Ogun State have arrested one of the inmates who escaped from the Kuje Correctional Centre in the FCT.
Recall that terrorists attacked the Kuje prison on July 5, and freed more than 600 inmates.
The police spokesman in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the escapee inmate, Yakubu AbdulMumuni (28), was re-arrested on Monday in Odo-Ota LGA.

According to him, Ota division received a tip off that the convict was sighted somewhere around Ota and that the DPO, SP Saleh Dahiru, mobilised his men and moved to the area where he was apprehended.
Oyeyemi further said, “He confessed to the police that he escaped from the Kuje Correctional Centre on July 5th, 2022, when the centre was attacked by bandits. He stated further that he was convicted by the Kogi State High Court for conspiracy and culpable homicide and sent to the Kuje Correctional Centre.”
He added that the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, had ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department to facilitate the transfer of the convict back to the correctional centre with immediate effect.
