The Chairman of Kuje Area Council, Alhaji Abdullahi D. Galadima, has said that the council has awarded contract for the drilling of motorised boreholes in rural communities of the council.
Galadima, made the disclosure when he received the All Progressives Congress (APC) elders and party stalwarts from Kujekwa village, when they paid him a visit at his Rubochi residence on Saturday.
He said the drilling of both motorised and hand-pump boreholes in the 10 wards of the council was to address the perennial water scarcity faced by some villages especially at the peak of the dry season.
He said the first batch of the projects has commenced in five wards – Anguwar Zara, Lanto in Chibiri ward, Dafara, Dibe Fadama and Kusaki communities in Gaube ward.
“Preparation for award of the second batch of the boreholes project will soon commence,” he added.
The chairman of Kujekwa APC elders, Yahaya Adamu, urged the chairman to intensify effort in providing boreholes in order to reduce water problem at the community.
