The Chairman Kuje Area Council, Alhaji Abdullahi Suleiman Sabo, has splashed the sum of N2.5 million on the U-15 girls who emerged champions at the recently held FCT junior handball tournament.
Apart from the victorious girls, Kuje came third in the U-12 male category just as Joshnson Nabala emerged Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the male U-15 category.
Still from Kuje, Bathesheba Isaac won the Best Goalkeeper award in the female U-15 category.
Sabo, who announced the reward when he received the U-15 girls and U-12 boys in his office yesterday, described them as ‘shining ambassadors’ of Kuje Area Council.
The chairman, therefore, expressed his appreciation on behalf of the government and people of Kuje Area Council for making the council proud.
Sabo then charged the victorious girls to brace up for the challenges ahead as they prepare to represent FCT and by extension the country in an international tournament.
Apart from the cash reward, the chairman also announced a donation of another N1 million for the construction of a handball court in the area.
Earlier, the manager of the victorious team, Comrade Gimba Mohammed, appreciated the council chairman for his support to team, assuring that the team will continue to bring honour to the council.
He also briefed the chairman on the proposed international tournament which he said would take place in no distant future.
