Kubwa man hospitalised after drinking ‘mkpuru mmiri’ dies

A man, Ikechukwu Paul, who earlier this month got knocked out after he consumed methamphetamine, locally called mkpuru mmiri, in Kubwa, a town in Bwari Area Council of the FCT, has died.

Mkpuru mmiri, coined from the Igbo language, is loosely translated as “seed of water”.

City & Crime had reported the incident and how Paul was rushed to a private mental rehab facility.

Speaking to our reporter on Monday, a source said, “Initially, he was responding to treatment, but after a while he stopped. He died at the weekend in the rehab centre.”

The source said Paul’s corpse had been deposited at the Kubwa General Hospital.
