Kogi youth group raises alarm over violence against ADC senatorial candidate

A political pressure group, Kogi Youths Masses Advocacy Group, on Friday raised alarm over recent attacks launched against the Kogi East senatorial candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dr Victor Adoji by thugs suspected to be loyal to the ruling All Progressives Congress.

Spokesman of the group, Ahmed Suleiman in a statement issued in Lokoja drew the attention of the National Peace Committee, the Inspector General of Police and the international community to what he described as plot by the ruling party to unleash mayhem opposition elements particularly in the Eastern senatorial district ahead of the forthcoming election.

The group said the repeated attacks on the ADC senatorial candidate and his supporters as witnessed at Ejule, Anyigba and Ogugu in recent time were worrisome.

Ahmed said in the light of the harassment, intimidation and physical attacks on the ADC candidate, it became imperative to call on the security agencies and all lovers of democracy to address the ugly situation before it deteriorates.

He also called on the international community, the security agencies focus attention on Kogi, particularly Kogi East senatorial district during the forthcoming elections with the view to safeguarding lives and properties as well as ensure a peaceful and credible polls.
