The Kogi State Government said it is making efforts to ensure that every local government area in the state gets a Model Science Secondary School in other to encourage the study of science in the state.
The Kogi State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Hon Wemi Jones, disclosed this in Lokoja on Thursday while receiving a Gold Medal Award in Public Administration from the Centre For Ethics and Value Orientation.

The Commissioner said the State is building three model science secondary schools in the three Senatorial District of the state.
He added that by the end of the first quarter of 2022, every local government area in the state will have a GYB Model Science Secondary School.
Hon Jones said it was the reason the present administration increased budgetary provision for education from 20 to 30 per cent in the 2022 budget.
The Commissioner added further that the State had surpassed the UNESCO benchmark of 26 per cent allocation to education, describing Governor Yahaya Bello as a miracle worker and lover of education.
Also, he hinted that the ministry of education was already working to convert many schools in the state to a Model Science Secondary School, for the state to meet the requirements for indigenes to fill its quota in the new Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara.
