The officials affected are the general managers of the state environmental sanitation board, Mr.Emmanuel Achimugu and that of the state broadcasting corporation, Mr Gabriel Amobeda.

Special adviser to the state governor on public communication and strategy, Mr Phrank Shuaibu who confirmed the suspension to newsmen in Lokoja, explained that the action was to allow the state government conduct unhindered investigations into the allegations against the four officials.

He said an interim report on the ongoing staff verification exercise in the state showed that the general manager of the state radio and his accountant had for many months been colluding to collect inflated salary of some workers of the corporation and diverting same to other uses.

Mr Shuaibu said the interim report also indicted the general manager of the state environmental sanitation board for allegedly converting the salaries of over200 ghost workers to his personal use.

The governor’s aide said more heads would roll in the state civil service when the final report of the staff audit is submitted to the state government.

According to him, ‘this is just a dress- rehearsal of what to expect when the final report is submitted to government. Governor Idris has by this action, restated his resolve to bring to book any public officer found wanting for fraud, indiscipline and ineptitude.”
