Kogi State government has approved the relocation of the state Polytechnic’s School of Preliminary Studies at Osara, in Adavi Local Government Area to Koton-Karfe town in Kogi Local Government Area of the state.
The state Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Wemi Jones, disclosed this when he and the Acting Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr Salisu Ogbo Usman, paid a courtesy visit to the Ohimegye of Igu-Kotonkarfe Chiefdom, Alhaji Abdulrazak Isah Koto, at his palace on Wednesday.

He told the monarch that the decision to relocate the school of preliminary studies to a site in Koton-Karfe was at the instance of Governor Yahaya Bello.
He congratulated the monarch and his subjects for having a higher institution in the area, while reiterating the state government’s resolve to make the new site admirable and conducive for teaching and learning.
In his response, the Ohimegye of Igu-Kotonkarfe thanked the governor for relocating the school to his chiefdom.
He said the relocation of the school would boost both social and economic activities in the area.
While inspecting facilities at the Government Science Secondary School (GSSS) which will serve as the new site, the Acting Rector said the polytechnic was ready to collaborate with the community to make the institution a befitting one.
