Kogi partners CBN on agric

Governor Idris Wada, who stated this at the opening ceremony of a four day training for cashew farmers in the state in Anyigba, Dekina Local Government Area of the state.
He said the state government has provided enabling environment for farmers to succeed.
Represented by the state Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr. Zaccheaus Atte, the governor said the N2 billion, when released will be spread across the agricultural sectors which he said the State has comparative advantage.
According to him, N300 million of the money will be earmarked for cashew farmers in continuation of the state government’s efforts to sustain the state which has now become the largest producer of the product.
Earlier, president of the National cashew Association of Nigeria, (NCAN), Mr. Tola Fasheru called on government at all levels to provide enough incentive for cashew farmers in the country.
“The government must pay attention to storage of cashew nuts in the country. Farmers loose 50 per cent of their products at the post production stage. This has hindered the well being of farmers who labour yearly to produce the product,” he said.
