Commissioning the project, Board Chairman of FMC, Alhaji Muhammed Abubakar, charged the centre to find solution to the Ebola virus.
While commending the foreign partner, Abubakar said it has become expedient for stakeholders in the health sector to find a lasting solution to Ebola virus, urging doctors and  pharmacists to use the  unit for the benefit of mankind.
Earlier, the Chief Executive Officer of Global PCCA, USA, Dr Steve Ams, said the unit was designed to improve the standard of health care delivery, adding: “The era of out-of-stock is over. When doctors prescribe drugs for patients, the prescription will be taken to the drug compounding unit where the exact medication will be given. The drugs then go direct to the point of pain and cure the ailment immediately”.
He said FMC Lokoja is the first hospital in the country to establish the drug compounding unit, urging other hospitals to do same. Also speaking, Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr Gbedebo  Eleshin, commended  the organization for choosing Kogi for the project, appealing to the state  government to subsidize the drugs.
