Kogi guber: Melaye demands free, fair election, vows to defend PDP votes

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for the November 11 election in Kogi State, Senator Dino Melaye, says he is ready to defend his vote and will not accept anything less than a free, fair and credible election.

Addressing a press conference in Abuja on Thursday, Melaye stated the pendulum of the election is already swinging towards the PDP as the people of Kogi had rejected the APC and its candidate, Usman Ododo.

Melaye said: “We demand a free and fair election where the vote of every Kogites will count. The tide is clearly in our favour as the people are solidly behind us. We counsel and caution Yahaya Bello and the APC to accept the fact of their rejection and their colossal defeat on November 11.

“We are here to alert Nigerians and the International Community of plots to use thugs to unleash violence against the people of Kogi State… the APC and its governorship candidate in Kogi State, have been rejected by the people ahead of the November 11, 2023 governorship election in the State.”

Melaye flanked by other members of his campaign team said “Intelligence available to our campaign is that fake Police Uniforms (camouflage) have been sewn, which have already been brought into Kogi State and ready to be distributed among thugs to parade as police men and unleash terror on innocent Kogites on election day.”
