Kogi: Group urges Ajaka to withdraw suit against Ododo

A pro-democracy group, The Advocacy for Rotational Leadership (TAROL), has urged the Kogi State SDP Governoship candidate, Alhaji Muritala Ajaka, to withdraw his suit seeking the Supreme Court to nullify the election of Usman Ododo as governor of the state.

According to a statement issued in Abuja, the group’s National Coordinator, Prince Ene Okon, said by withdrawing the suit, Ajaka will become a champion of democracy.

Okon added that the sacrifice will help entrench the ideals of rotational governorship which most stakeholders in Kogi state have been advocating for since the return of democracy in Nigeria in 1999.

He reiterated that Kogi East where Ajaka hails from has been the greatest beneficiary of the governorship seat in the state so it will not be out of place for other constituent parts to have their fair share to promote a sense of belonging, peace and unity.

“This is the same thing we are advocating for Benue and other states where the majority ethnic group has held onto the governorship seat as their birth right to the neglect of other component ethnic groups in the state,” Okon said in the statement.

He, therefore, urged states to take a cue from Cross River State where the governorship is rotated among the south, central and northern senatorial districts to ensure that no part is marginalised in the leadership of the state.
