The dusty scene that characterises the about seven-kilometre Ganaja road in Lokoja, Kogi State, may soon become a thing of the past as the state government embarked on the rehabilitation of the road.

The dual carriage road from Ganaja junction to Ganaja village was badly damaged during a recent flood that wreaked havoc on the road and buildings that were submerged.
The damaging flood has receded to the River Niger level revealing damaged structures and the road especially the portion of the road that was overflooded.
The mostly affected area is the portion of the road close to Ganaja village itself where the water overflooded the pavement and submerged the structures opposite the River Niger followed by that portion after the 200 housing units.
As the construction begins with the excavation of the surface, severe hold-up has persistently featured especially in the early and closing hours following several diversions erected by the contractors.
When our correspondent visited the site, a grocer who gave his name as Malam Ibrahim was seen busy dusting his wares.
He welcomed the decision of the government to rehabilitate the road.
Another resident said the government should not be blamed for the condition of the road as the problem was caused by flooding which is a natural disaster.
Other commuters and operators of tricycles said they were trying to cope with the situation, adding that it was a temporary hiccup.
