Kogi Gov’s wife seek equal treatment for ‘Special Kids’

The wife of the Kogi state Governor, Barrister Amina Bello has requested for equal and improved treatment for special needs children.

She made the appeal in Abuja at a round table discussion of the role of the legislation in creating an Inclusive society for special needs kids in Nigeria.

The meeting was organized by Hayat Foundation in collaboration with sister organizatios to promote the plight of the disabled.

The Kogi State first lady who is the founder of Hayatula Foundation said the over 25 million Nigerians living with disabilities must not be left behind, adding that they must be included in the legal framework of our country Nigeria; inclusive healthcare, inclusive education and inclusive society for all persons living with disabilities.

While urging the federal government to sign the disability bill, she charged schools and religious organizations to improve equipment for use by special needs children.

She noted, “We have to keep sensitizing our people to be more elightend on treating people who are disabled”.

She concluded that, she was inspired to established the foundation in honour of her son, Hayatulah who was born a unique child.

According to her, she redirected her energies into bringing succour to thousands and perhaps millions of such special kids who have been ostracized and excluded from the society because they came in a different package.
