Kogi evicts traders, artisans under flyover

The Kogi State Government has evicted traders and artisans hawking from under the Ganaja Overpass in Lokoja.

The order was carried out by the Ministry of Environment and Ecological Management in collaboration with the enforcement team of the Kogi State Sanitation and Waste Management Board on Wednesday.

The government said the eviction was to sanitise the area and get rid of miscreants who might use it as a hideout to commit crime. The Commissioner for Environment and Ecological Management, Engineer Joseph Stephen, said the exercise was intended to address serious environmental abuses posed by the illegal occupants of the area.
