The Executive Director of the Kogi State Primary Health Care Development Agency (KSPHCDA), Dr Abubakar Yakubu, has said that plans are underway to establish a model health centre in each of the 21 local government areas of the state to improve healthcare delivery at the grassroots.
He disclosed this yesterday at a press conference to keep the public abreast of the activities of his agency and efforts to improve the fortunes of the primary healthcare system in the state.
Dr Yakubu said that in an effort to reposition the primary healthcare system, an executive bill for the takeoff of the Primary Health Care Under One Roof (PHCUOR) had been sent to the state House of Assembly for passage.
He said the PHCUOR would bring all primary healthcare departments of local governments under the control of the agency to ensure a single line of authority, better coordination and efficiency in healthcare delivery.
Dr Yakubu commended Governor Yahaya Bello for repositioning the primary healthcare development agency with the composition of its board in October last year.
