Kogi elects women as vice chair in 21 LGAs

No fewer than 21 female politicians were elected as vice chairpersons as APC sweeps all local government elections in Kogi State.

The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr Folashade Arike Ayoade, in a statement, said giving women vital roles in the state was in line with Governor Yahaya Bello’s zeal to implement the 35% affirmative action on women inclusiveness in politics.

Dr Ayoade, while speaking at the inauguration of the elected officials, said women under the administration of Governor Bello had been politically liberated from long time relegation and oblivion.

The SSG said women had enjoyed political recognition under Governor Bello’s leadership, thereby giving them a sense of belonging and providing a conducive atmosphere to thrive in different endeavours.

In her remarks, the vice chairperson, Kabba Local Government Area (LGA), Mrs Comfort Bimpe, expressed gratitude to the governor for the privilege given to them and several other councilors elected and sworn in.

She assured that they would justify the confidence reposed in them and utilise their respective offices in actualising his administration’s agenda at the grassroots.
