The Iyara Development Association in Ijumu local government of kogi State has urged police authority to expedite action on the prosecution of the alleged diviner over the missing of a bricklayer, Samond Akeju Ogunrinde, who was declared missing after visiting an Alfa (Islamic cleric) for divination.
The association lamented over the missing bricklayer, who hails from Ekiti State but resides in Ogun State.
Kogi police command has confirmed the arrest of the prime suspect (the diviner) said to be in the centre of the crime.
The National President of Iyara Development Association (IDA), Alhaji Aliyu Badaki, in a brief interview with journalists in Lokoja, described the incident as barbaric, unfortunate and alien to the community, known as home of peace.
He said the association would put everything in place to get to the root of the matter.
Meanwhile, the Kogi State police command said the suspect had been charged to court and remanded in Kabba correctional centre.
The state Police Public Relation Officer PPRO told City & Crime on Wednesday that the culprit would not go unpunished.
The victim, Ogunrinde, 36, was said to have left his family in Ekiti State to seek for spiritual assistance from the Alfa, known as Olaita Apelu on March 25, 2022 at Iyara in Kogi State but has not been seen since then.
