Justice Ajanah released the inmates yesterday while reviewing the files of 132 awaiting trial inmates during a visit to Koton-Karfe prison.
The chief judge who also granted bail to four other awaiting trial inmates decried the level of congestion at the prison.
According to him, the prison constructed in 1934 to accommodate 50 inmates, now hosts 157 inmates.
He directed magistrates in the state to always ensure that cases brought to their courts are transferred to courts within areas the offences were committed to avoid congestion.
He also lamented indiscriminate arrest and shoddy prosecution of suspects by the police, saying the mentally deranged man, who was charged with criminal conspiracy and armed robbery alongside one Umoru Isiaka, spent five months in detention without arraignment.
