The Kingmaker have crowned Alhaji Saidu Salihu Akawu, as the new Ohimegye Igu Kotonkarfe kingdom and chairman, Kogi/Lokoja Traditional Rulers Council.
City & crime had reported that Kogi State governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, on Monday, dethroned the former Ohimegye Igu-Koton-Karfe, HRM Alhaji Abdulrazak Sani Isa Koto.
The ceremony, which was held on Tuesday at the palace of the Ohimegye, was performed by kingmakers from Odaki ruling house.
Speaking shortly after his crowning, the new Ohimegye Igu – Kotonkarfe, HRM Alhaji Saidu Akawu Salihu, called on his subjects to support him with prayers to ensure peace, unity and development of Igu – Kotonkarfe kingdom.

He promised to carry everyone along, irrespective of tribes, religion and ethnic affiliations.
The ceremony was witnessed by thousands of well-wishers, including Kogi the state Commissioner for Solid Minerals, Abubakar Bashir Gegu, who trooped out to the residence of the new Ohimagye Igu of Koton-Karfe.
