Killings: Northerners not targeted, says Soludo as police reassure Anambra Hausa community of protection

Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has said northerners are not the target of killings in the state.

He said this while reacting to the killing of a pregnant woman and her children by suspected militants of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

In a statement, Mr Christian Aburime, his Chief Press Secretary, Soludo said Anambra indigenes, Northerners and people from other parts of the country live and do business with each other peacefully.

The statement also stated that the Soludo administration has not only demonstrated commitment in tackling insecurity, but has continuously reassured both indigenes and non-indigenes in the State of their protection and safety.

Meanwhile, the Anambra state commissioner for police, Echeng E. Echeng, has visited Hausa community in the state and assured them of their safety.

While assuring residents of safety, he said investigation has since commenced into many unfortunate killings across the state.

He noted that the police had especially stepped up investigation and  deployed officers in strategic places in the state.
