The police in Jigawa State have arrested kidnappers suspected to be responsible for the killing of two police officers, SP Anas Usaini and Insp Sunusi Alhassan, at Kwalam in Taura Local Government Area on Sunday.
The two officers were trying to repel the kidnapping of the son-in-law to a popular Jigawa government contractor, Haruna Maifata, when they were shot and killed.
The Commissioner of Police (CP), Aliyu Sale Tafida, while parading the suspects at the headquarters in Dutse on Thursday, said they were arrested following intelligent reports in a combined operation by the Criminal Investigation Department, State Intelligent Bureau, Medical Department and three area commands of Gumel, Ringim and Kafin Hausa.
He said the suspects were arrested when criminal hideouts in Dajin Maizuwo, Dan Gwanki and Yandamo villages in Sule Tankarkar LGA were raided.
