Killers of Kogi commissioner demand N100 million ransom for abducted LG chairman 

The kidnappers of the Yagba West Local Government Chairman in Kogi State, Mr. Pius Kolawole, are demanding N100 million ransom before he can regain his freedom.

He was abducted around the boundary of Kogi and Kwara States during the weekend while Solomon Adebayo, the commissioner for pension of Kogi State, who was with him, was shot dead.

Our correspondent learnt from reliable source that the kidnappers put a call through to the secretary of the local government late Sunday as well as one of the family members of the chairman to demand the ransom.

Although they were said to have promised to call in the early hours of Monday to continue with the terms of negotiation, the had not as of the time of filing this report.

The source said that the kidnappers had also contacted the Kogi State Chairman, Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) Mr. Taofik Isah, who doubled as the Chairman of Ijumu council area of the need to hasten the negotiation.

Our correspondent learnt that the family, council area, and ALGON had agreed that the ALGON Chairman should continue with the negotiation.

The attack claimed the life of the State Commissioner for Pension Board, Mr.  popularly called Akeweje who was in the same vehicle with the chairman while the driver is receiving treatment in an Egbe hospital for the wounds he sustained during the attack.

However, the kidnappers did not touch the four year-old son of deceased who was in the vehicle at the time of attack.
