Kidnapping: Gumi visits Fulani communities along Kaduna-Abuja highway

A renowned Islamic scholar, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has visited some communities along Kaduna-Abuja highway over rising kidnapping cases in the area.

Daily Trust gathered that the areas visited by the scholar were seen as kidnappers’ zone in Jere town.

Addressing a large crowd, Sheikh Gumi lamented the high rate of illiteracy among the Fulani herdsmen in the area.

According to him, the only panacea to their problem was the acquisition of both western and Islamic knowledge.

Sheikh Gumi disclosed that some Fulanis in the area would be selected for a series of training, after which they will educate their people upon return.

Some of the Fulani leaders, who spoke at the event, admitted that their major challenge was illiteracy.

According to them, they were left unattended to without education, security and basic amenities.
