Worried by the recent wave of kidnapping and other security concerns in Bayelsa State, the House of Assembly has screened and confirmed Brigadier General Eric Angaye (Rtd) as the Coordinator of the newly formed Community Safety Corps.
The corps, which was signed into law by Governor Douye Diri late last year, is to ensure the proper security of all the remote communities in the state and assist in curbing crime, protecting government infrastructure and engaging youths of the state.

Speaker of the House of Assembly, Abraham Ingobere, stated that the Community Safety Corp, which harmonised activities of security outfits in the state, is to ensure that the security situation in the state was improved.
Recall that recently the traders union in the state decried the upsurge in targeted kidnapping of Igbo businessmen in the state in the past few months, saying the situation had forced several of them to leave the state.
